Cokor[5] (Myospalax) – rodzaj ssaków z podrodziny cokorów (Myospalacinae) w obrębie rodziny ślepcowatych (Spalacidae).
Zasięg występowania[edytuj | edytuj kod]
Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące w azjatyckiej części Rosji, Kazachstanie, Mongolii i Chińskiej Republice Ludowej[6][7][8].
Morfologia[edytuj | edytuj kod]
Długość ciała (bez ogona) 140–270 mm, długość ogona 34–69 mm; masa ciała 185–720 g; samice są lżejsze i mniejsze od samców[7][9].
Systematyka[edytuj | edytuj kod]
Rodzaj zdefiniował w 1769 roku fińsko-rosyjski przyrodnik Erich Laxmann w książce o tytule Predigers bey der deutschen Gemeinde zu Barnaul, Sibirische Briefe[1]. Na gatunek typowy Laxmann wyznaczył (oznaczenie) cokora ałtajskiego (M. myospalax).
Etymologia[edytuj | edytuj kod]
- Myospalax: gr. μυς mus, μυος muos „mysz”; σπαλαξ spalax, σπαλακος spalakos „kret”[10].
- Myotalpa: gr. μυς mus, μυος muos „mysz”; łac. talpa „kret”[11]. Gatunek typowy: Mus aspalax Pallas, 1776.
- Siphneus: gr. σιφνευς siphneus „kret”, od σιφνος siphnos „ślepawy”[12]. Gatunek typowy: Mus aspalax Pallas, 1776.
- Aspalomys: gr. ασπαλαξ spalax, ασπαλακος spalakos „kret”; μυς mus, μυος muos „mysz”[13]. Gatunek typowy: Mus aspalax Pallas, 1776.

Do rodzaju należą następujące występujące współcześnie gatunki[14][9][6][5]:

- Myospalax aspalax (Pallas, 1776) – cokor stepowy
- Myospalax armandii (Milne-Edwards, 1867)
- Myospalax psilurus (Milne-Edwards, 1874) – cokor mandżurski
